Hey BFT'ers, I wanted to post this up in support of our fellow member, Telbone. He has started his own blog, and if you have read his reports, you have seen that his writing is worth reading.
Click here, then bookmark his page. I, for one, will be following.
It's a great blog, complete with pictures, and he even throws in some video footage from his hat-cam.
Pretty cool stuff Telbone - keep it up.

Now that is really cool. Would you happen to be April's brother? I talk fishing with her all the time. She's half the reason I am going to Sand Hollow on my next trip. The other half is this forum and conversations with the Whizzle.
My next trip there's gonna be no fly rod.. Just a couple of spinners and baitcasters. I am only bringing the baitcasters to do some sight fishing if possible to bedders. My main goal with the next trip is do learn to drop shot. I understand how to do it, but I need what you'd call practical experience on the method and I aim go get it.
Anyhow that was pretty cool learning that I worked with a member's sister.

Yup. April is my younger sister. That girls LOVES her fishing... We try to do a couple Sand Hollow Trip's a year. You will definitely have a good time up there. Are you taking a boat/float tube? Drop shot works really well up there when going deep. April was killing them this last trip with Texas-rigged speed craws and Lizards from shore, and I did really well with small Pumpkinseed jigs with craw trailers. Lots of weeds and trees along the banks where they were bedding though. I lost 3 drop shot setups in the first hour to snags while sight fishing and ended up throwing the weedless jigs the rest of the day. The vast majority of the fish I caught were holed up next to some type of underwater tree or beds of grass. Don't be afraid to cast right into the mess of vegetation.

I have seen that method, but it was more of a "Jerk like Hell!" mentality.
My daughter ran into one of my fishing poles with a crankbait tied on it. 4 of six treble points in her forearm, and she was too young to know to freeze. She started ripping at that crankbait, furiously trying to free the hooks from her skin. In the process, she drove some of those points into her left palm, and then proceeded to literally RIP the crankbait out of her arm, and then with her right hand, ripped the crankbait from her left palm.
Through some sort of kid-magic, she was only left with 4 barely visible puncture wounds on her arm, and a couple scrapes on her hands. I thought for sure she was going to rip big holes in her arm.
The crazy part about it was her super-strength. I am a man. Not a big, buff, burly man, but not a wimp, either. And the second i saw her walk intro that crankbait, i jumped on her and tried to hold her arm still. She was so frantic in her attempts that she literally overpowered me four separate times when i tried to stop her. It was f-n nuts.
Traumatizing for a parent to see.
She still likes fishing though!

Wow that sucks whizzle.. must've been pretty traumatizing for you, not to mention her. I actually quit fishing while the kids were younger so I never had to worry about that scene thankfully. That's one of the reasons I always seem to be looking for my tying stuff. It was in deep storage for about 4 years and I am still looking for a box of stuff.
BTW, I helped out the pta yesterday morning and it was such a pretty day I took off to Sand Hollow about 10am... figured I'd get a nice afternoon of fishing in. Well, just as I was going through St. George the check engine light comes on. I know myself and I know I would've been worried and thus not enjoyed fishing so I drove to the gate, paid the fee and checked out the lake. Half of the time I just like seeing new places so it wasn't a wasted trip. Man is that lake full brother... there were boats lined up to use the launches and most of the available shoreline was covered in people. I liked the bright hues of red coming off that rock.
Anyhow, of course I drove back without issue and I could've fished... but like I said the worry would've put a damper on my fishing. The truck is going in on Monday morning. I recently had all the fluids changed and it seemed like that had been the problem, but I am not messin' about any longer. Mechanic it is.

At $6.99 to $8.99 (+ shipping) each for the Eye Surrender, its worth some savings as a DIY project..
For $1.98+tax I custom make my own. I buy the neophrene exercise belt and 1/2" velcro strips at the 99-cent Store.
I cut the neophrene waist belt to the size I need and hand sew on the velcro hook strip with 2 lb fishing line. Since I don't have a sewing machine, I have to do it by hand. It only takes me about 10 minutes to stitch on the velcro while in front of the TV watching the fishing channel. [ ![Wink Wink](https://bigfishtackle.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.png) ]
I can usually get about 5-6 wraps depending on what size I need. The velco hook strip will stick directly to the blue fabric covering the neophrene without having to add a loop strip.
