Whats the skinny on Holmes Creek?
#1
Ok is this place worth going for any bass or is it like the hundreds of community fisheries with rainbow trout? From a bass enthusiast point of view; it "looks" promising for bass but seems to be more for trout anglers. Any inputs?

This recent post has some good info in it, even tho it is not exactly on the fishing...it led there a bit and may help you

I was there a few years ago and did well for white bass on the sandy area near the dam. Also caught a few cats. It was not super fast, but was fun. Ice season was fun there as well with all of the planter bows. Beyond that...I have no idea how it is. Evidently it was a great pond back in its day, but I was not in Utah then.

I would go to mantua or pineview for bass if your heading north. Holmes is not was it was.

I agree. Not much fishable shoreline and not a lot of Bass left.
Mantua and Pineview will be better choices.

That "unfishable" shoreline was my favorite part of the lake. You just need to figure out ways to catch bass in thickets of flooded oakbrush to dense to cast a line, while wading chest deep in floating debris: logs, wood chips, bark, trash, leaves, etc..

And bring lots of hooks and lures, bait, and a pole you won't mind snapping the end off periodically.
