Stewarts Point and New Fishing Kayak
#1
Finally tried a new spot besides hole 33. Went to stewarts point (beautiful drive, but its a long ways away...) and found the fishing to be very similar to hole 33. Caught a couple of dink stripers and that was it. Some other folks around us were catching quite a few dinks. Also saw a guy pull in a few cats around 14-15".

Was able to try out my new rig for the first time. Bought an ascend A10 kayak from BPS, for $299. Mounted it with a humminbird fish finder, an RC car rechargeable battery to power it, and off we went! What a blast, trolling in a kayak is more enjoyable than I thought. My fish fish finder worked great and the RC battery lasted the entire day. There were long stretches of nothing, and then stretches of hundreds of fish. What a cool feeling knowing that there are 10 HUGE fish right below you. What's not cool is not being able to catch them, lol.

I tried everything in my tackle arsenal with very minimal results. And then this striper hits on the dumbest bass lure I have?

I will be fishing Mead next saturday if anyone is interested in going with. Preferably if you have a kayak, pontoon, or float tube. I'll probably hit hole 33 or Hemmingway.

Nice report and pics fink [cool] its so much nicer when your off the shoreline. I'm not far behind you once the water warms a bit more I'll be tubin. I remember you talking about getting a tube you made the right choice in getting a kayak I've been thinking about buying that same model.

nice yak. I was looking at same model last year... ended up buying a SOT instead. Where do you launch @ 33hole? you drag your yak from the parking lot down to the water?

No too far, steep descent and uphill on the return. Best to launch from Gov't Wash and paddle across the bay. Takes about 15-20 minutes wind speed permitting.
