Joplin Tornado
#1
If you're so inclined, the Red Cross would be a good service to support while our friends around the country are suffering.

Have chainsaw, will travel.

My in-laws live in Joplin and they are safe, thank goodness. My wife and I (who live in Tulsa, go figure) drove up there yesterday to help cut her parents (in their 70's) out of the mess the tornado put them in. They were completely blocked in and while the damage to their property was significant, their house managed to suffer only minor damage. Their neighborhood wasn't quite so lucky. Some of those home were completely gone.

The police stopped us, as they were everyone else and turning them back. When it was out turn to talk to them, the nice police officer told us, while he could not tell us to go forward, he wasn't going to chase us down if we did and he knew what he would do if it was his parents. Then enlightening us to the fact the Sheriff was down the road and threatening to arrest anyone trying to get into this neighborhood, we took our chances and thanked the nice officer.

I kept my pics to mostly my in-laws home and property as I didn't want to invade others privacy and personal tragedies.

Here's a link to some of the pictures I took yesterday.

I realize this is a fishing forum but hey, we're all Americans and this one just burns my butt!

After spending the day cutting out my in-laws drive just so they could drive their vehicle out and get to a hotel while they wait for their neighborhood to be rebuilt, some numbnuts starts cutting trees and dropping their cuttings into the drive of my in-laws!

Just to pull back into their drive that we spent hours clearing my father in-law, in his 70's, had to get out a hand saw and clear it again!

Sorry for the rant but this is unconscionable.
