hey josh welcome - lake mead has great fishing, largemouth, smallmouth, stiped bass, catfish, bluegill, crappie, and of course carp haha there's a lot of info already available on this forum about where to fish and everything its a really good resource - just beware! All of the non-fisherman you'll talk to in the city will have nothing but bad things to say about the lake because they never go themselves and have no clue how to fish hahah lake mead is a great place w/ great water. my advice is to buy a years fishing license, i'm sure you get a military discount, and 9 bucks a day is just terrible lol well good luck, welcome and let us know how fishing goes!

Welcome to Nellis and Vegas, I'm at Nellis too. Mead can be a lot of fun but it can also be really frusterating. You should be able to get resident lisences since you live here, just go to the bx. You might need a copy of your orders, they can be kind of difficult. If you want a break from Lake Mead there is also great fishing a few hours north or in Utah.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I should be home by mid July so I'll be able to get all my stuff squared away with. Each member in my family has a pole so we'll be doing it as a family.
