Anyone have a Boulder Mnt report?
#1
Am I being a bit too antsy if I attempt to hit Boulder Mnt this weekend? I've called a few fly shops and the DWR for the area to see if the higher elev. lakes are accessible yet, but noone seems to know?! I'm itchin' for some brookies!

Any info would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I will have a report in two and a half weeks.[Smile] Try the national forest service. Fishlake NF covers the old teasdale Dixie ranger district and Dixie covers the rest.

We went this past weekend and ran into two lakes that were frozen. Had to park our ATVs and hike to the lakes due to snow drifts and trees on the trail. Most of the trails are in horrible condition this year with huge trees over trails, mud and lots of standing and running water.

The fishing was ok at some lakes and better at others. No big ones on this trip but the late Spring is definitely affecting things. It may be tough fishing for a while. Good luck.

Very good info. Good to know! Maybe i'll just have to wait it out for a few more weeks (bummer). Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure to bring the chainsaw and i'll plan on getting muddy. Hope the fishing is good this year! Thanks again......

Just curious, were you on the north or south slope?

I would suggest going after the 4th of July, maybe towards the middle of the month. The top will be open. Right now the trails are a mess. We was there last week, some of the trails you can't walk down because of tons of fallen trees. The forest service was in there cutting some of the trees to make paths so people could get there. Found one lake was frozen and another had a bunch of dead fish in it. Must have winterkilled bad there this year.

Plan on going up there on schedule and having a good time. We just tried to access griffin top lakes a little early in the year but if you go in a week or two you should be in good shape.

I spoke with the ranger station today. They said the road to Donkey should be open within the next few days, but the road up the back won't be open until early July (unless it stays really warm). I'm going in 2 wks and will try the back then, but will likely end up near Donkey.

I haven't been down there for a few years. Anyone know if Donkey, Solitair and Lost are still ok ('cause that's where I'll likely end up)?

Went last weekend. Drove the wheeler right to donkey. Most snow is gone with a little bit in higher locations, and roads were not a problem at all. Fishing was fair to good with flies and jigs. Black was the best color. Have fun.[fishin]
