Jordanelle vs East Canyon
#1
Hello,

I am looking for some advice. My family wants to go out to a lake this weekend. SOme of them want to swim or play in the water. One of them (me) wants to fish. And there will be at least one child (around 5). Would East Canyon or Jordanelle be better? Those were the 2 they named but they want to make sure there will be something for the kid(s) to do. Also there needs to be access to a picnic area and bathrooms close by.
I have never been to Jordanelle (Sad, I know) and have only been to East once.
I appreciate any and all input Smile

ALso, any kids that come with will most likely not be into fishing (they were not raised right, apparently Wink)

I havent been to East Canyon yet this year but if you are looking for beach and picnic areas, I think Jordanelle would be your best bet.
Rockport had some good beach area and picnic area last sunday and the water where I was was not very deep so if the kids wanted to swim that might be a good choice too.
At Rockport I was at the state park side as close to the damn I could get.

Jordanelle is the place I always took my kids when they were young. Lots of facilities and plenty of play-in-able water. East Canyon is/was fun too but we always preferred Jordanelle.

I don't see anyone playing in any water right now or in the near future, what are the temps like 50 degrees, go somewhere you can fish.

Try East Canyon the water temps are 60 by 12:00 and the lake is full, Jordanelle is close to 20' down and 52 at first light and 56 at 2:00 ..

The banks are muddy and steep for kids to play, and the fishing may be better then at Jordanelle so try East Canyon..

Thanks everyone Smile

The nephew that wanted to swim is an adult, so he can be a dumbass and swim in cold water all he wants.

I did a little research today and found that half of Jordanelle is closed off tomorrow for a bit for some Triathalon watersports event or something. SO East Canyon it is Big Grin

Thanks everyone for all of your input.
