Springfield Res. Bust
#1
Fished Springfield in the tubes on the west end Sat. and not even a tap. I don't know where the fish have gone in what was once a most prolific rainbow water. Fished from the tubes with an early start fishing high, low and in between. Nothing. Went to Mctucker ponds and their was nothing happening there either. I think the flood waters must have washed them out. The barreness of Springfield was a disappointment.

Just my opinion, but that lake is just to small to post openly about. It has got hammered as of late because of all the posts. Some waters are just not large enough to handle the net exposure. This is a good example of what happens, just my feeling.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, you have said exactly what has been on my mind for some time. I have fished the before mentioned lake for 26 years. For some time the lake was left alone. Just a month ago I took my son with me on my boat there and witnessed a classic example of over use. Five(mine included) drift boats, eight pontoon boats, four float tubes, and two other small row boats on this water at one time. This may not sound like a lot on the big H, but put all that in a farm pond, it has an effect. It has pretty much been that way the whole season so far. Everyone I talked to said they "heard" it was the only show in town.

I think it is getting hammered because of exactly what you said . It is the only game in town . High gas prices are keeping people close to home and you would have too be crazy to put your boat in the river right now . McTucker got washed out and so did Rose pond . So unless you want to drive to Chesterfield of Henry's . Springfield is the place to go . I can't believe anyone would keep a fish out of that Pond though , They would taste like duck poop . Curt G.

Curt, just wondering why and when you ate duck poop? My thoughts are that you must have in order to compare the fish out of this pond to it! [cool] Just kidding, I know exactly what you are saying, because I have also caught fish out of a small pond.
Any chance you will be around Island Park the week of the Forth of July? It's time for my annual sanity check and thats where I'll be.
Sorry for the hijack, but I couldn't resist.
