Cascade Reservoir 6/17 - 6/20

Fished Friday, Saturday and this morning...

Battled the cold, wind and rain most of the time... was nice this morning however... We seemed to do the best in the wind even though it was a pain to run the boat... We went out for about 4-5 hours in the mornings and then again for a few hours in the evenings... We averaged about 15 smallies each time out.. one evening in the wind we managed about 35 or so. Most were right around the 11-12 inch range with several smaller and a few larger. We had two that were right at 15" and I caught one this morning that was almost 16". The large one this morning was a male and was squirting everywhere.

We also caught, kept and ate 5 large perch over the weekend... The largest was 13" long. We only targeted Bass so all of the perch we caught were on cranks or plastics. I did see a few boats bait fishing for perch and catching more than we did.

We also caught several trout on our Bass gear. They loved some of the cranks we were throwing. We didn't keep any but could have had our limit a couple times out... My son caught the biggest - was just over 18" long. I had a really big one on that I lost - I would guess he was around 25"+.

Thanks for the report. Anywhere there are that many smallies is a place I need to visit.

Good looking fish, but it sure looks cold for the middle of June!

Your boy still looks happy though. I would too that perch is nearly the size of a bass!
