Whitney Resevoir
#1
Does anyone have any recent knowledge of condition of the access road to Whitney?? Your help is much appreciated! Looking to take a group up that don't normally get to experience this type of outting. Would hate to be met by a road that was unable to maneuver.

Hey I was up there camping last week for 4 days. The road to Whitney was good but some of the side roads were pretty mucky. There were plenty of people stuck between Mill City and Road Hollow. Some of the camp areas arouund Whitney had some snow in them also. Reservoir was full and the fishing was pretty good for us with a night crawler. The mosquitos were really bad. Hope this helps. Welcome to the site.

I haven't been up there yet this year, but the road should be fine by now, even for a car.

That's awesome info, is the areas your talking bout folks being stuck in on the access road actually on what way to the Resevoir? My plans are to go up and pitch tents and fry some of those pesky brookies for the children. Does this sound doable or is it more of a pipe dream?

I was there two weeks ago. The roads where fine you should have no issues. Fishing was good mostly smaller cuts and tigers we went searching for brookies and did not get any.

Had the same experience as Orvis1. No brookies but rainbows and cuts. The road to Whitney is fine though. There were some big rigs camping all around the lake. Just remember the bug repellant. As far as crawdads, I've never seen one there. Good luck.

It couldn't hurt to set a trap overnight n see what you catch.
