Oneida today

Well I don't kinow how you guys do it but I sure am having bad luck this year. We didn't get away from Benson till ten or so then had to stop at the boat inspection place.( Good Job Idaho, they don't check our boat in Utah). Any how started around noon on the dam, Tried trolling worm harnesses and some crankbaites for a while and nothing, so we still fished with several different jigs for a while and nothing. The carp were all around the boat on top of the water and I throw a worm in them and still nothing. So we looked for some crawdads by the dock and several places along the rocks and same thing. There was a couple guys by the dock trying for the dads and they said they couldn't find em either. Im starting to think iv'e been cursed, but I refuse to give up.

I havent been to Oneida myself in awhile but the latest report I heard was that you had to basicly just float with the current, jigging the bottom until you come across a group. Sounded like the walleye and perch were hanging close to each other and sounded like about 10 to 15 fish in each spot they would get into them, with a even mix between walleye and perch. Didnt get any details on exact jigs but that was the story. As far as the dads it sounded like far side on the lake from the road up towards the river portion of the lake.

Thanks for the report I was thinking of heading up that way instead of willard to have a more peaceful experience[Smile] but if fishing is slow I will just tuff it out at willard with all the jet skiers and water skiers[pirate]

Thanks dma, I was trolling 1.5 - 1.8 most of the time at 12- 16 ft. that seem to be where most showed up on the finder.

i was up there last thursday and nailed several small mouth (one toad) and a few walleye, one went 18 inches but was fat as hell all on the fly rod. give this a shot..... next time you launch the boat look at the ramp and make an imaginary line straight across to the other shore. you should see several rock piles heading into the water. find where the water starts its steep decline into deeper sections. anchor up and throw jigs along the rocks. i even had a big carp hit my streamer and for a second i thought for sure i had the ID state record smalley on only to be disappointed. anywho. i work uplake from that area and where i anchor im litterally 5 to 10 feet from shore and fan cast the entire area.

Trolling at 1.5-1.8 is way too fast for a worm harness and at the same time is too slow for cranks. Maybe try about .5 with your harnesses and 2-3 mph with cranks. It doesnt work to have a mix of both back there.
