66A BULL ELK TAG

i got lucky and drew on the late hunt for bulls in this unit. idk this area well and plan on doing lots of scouting. any help would rock. thanks

shouldnt have to much of a problem finding ground to hunt in that zone. awesome draw by the way youl have a good chance and finding a good bull.

hunt stump creek for the last few years for deer. always see a few big bulls but never any deer during season. shouldn't be bad for ya.

so many archery hunters up there i though the deer hunt opened early. did find a nice 6x bull. no talking going on yet but no surprise there. hopefully these nice chilly nights will get those loins a burnin.

I hunt the smith creek drainage just north of stump creek. There are some monster bulls in there. Ever since the wolves got in over in that area there isn't much talking going on during the season. We switched tactics from calling to mostly still hunting in the dark timber and ambushing animals. Early 90s from 6 to 10 it used to be constant ringing in the hills, about 99 its started to drop, saw our first wolf that year. And its gone down hill ever since. I see a lot of wolf sign up there now. Good luck, hopefully you get some early snowup high, if you do there are some areas that will be thick with elk. Last time I was in on the tag you have we saw 18 bulls in one morning with the smallest being a 5x5.
