Hyrum report
#1
Hit Hyrum last night from 6 till about 8. The action was non stop. We couldve caught all the 6-8" trout we wanted. We did catch one that was about 2lbs but as far as size that was it. I didn't bother to take pictures because they were nothing to brag about. We trolled from the launch ramp to big toe and caught them all throughout. We trolled with rapalas and caught them at all different speeds.

Nice, glad to see Hyrum is producing some fish again. A little far for me but maybe I need to give it another try again this weekend.

Thanks for the report. Guessing there wasn't too much ski traffic that time of night! Good to hear the frisky planter bows are living up to their job. Too bad they couldn't've dropped in more of the 10"inchers that landed in the Logan river. But ah well - should make ice fishing interesting come hard-deck. But dang it - if they tangle around my camera cable!!!

Didn't happen across any Tigers, eh?

Could make for some fun fall trips. Have to bring the boy out so he can get some tugs on. We dragged mostly spoons and fly's last fall with good action.

Wonder if I were to go deep now - would I find the big browns below the planters frolicking on the surface?

Pretty much the same results for me when I fished it yesterday morning. Usually couldn't get my line out trolling before I had a fish on. I did catch the smallest fish of my life on a crank bait twice the size of the fish. It was a baby bass about half the size of my thumb. I may have drug it around the lake a mile or so before I discovered that I had it on. There is a good number of two pounders in there now, Those should be real nice fish through the ice. Coyote, I have been wondering what happened to the tigers they planted in there, two years ago you couldn't keep the six inchers off your ice jig.

Hey CV last winter I drug a couple 18 in tigers through my hole so they put on a little size by then. Hey my father-in-law is in town for a couple days and would like to catch some fish. What is fishing best for action these days? You been up north to twin lately? If that place has picked up like Hyrum I'd like to try it those bows were fun in June up there. Later J

Yep, there was only one crazy person out skiing. The wind was blowing pretty hard and a front was rolling in. I was afraid when we got there it would turn the fish off. They didn't seem to mind the weather though. It would've been fun to hook up on a tiger or two I've never caught one myself. It's a great time to take kids out. Not much effort to put them on the fish and kids don't really care about size.

I was up to Twin a week ago and did real good trolling panther martin spinners. Those fish had some pretty good bulk to them.

I was up at Twin on Wednesday. Definitely not fast action like that. Granted I was targeting bass, but it was really slow. If you have a boat though, I think you could find them better. There just weren't all that many spots with access to deep water where you could put in a tube as they had the dam blocked off. Despite the slowness, I did manage to get this guy on a crank.[inline "trout small.JPG"][inline "goodbye big fellow small.JPG"]

Anyone know how the panfishing is at twin right now. I'm headed out there Saturday evening. I'll probably post on the Idaho site too.

Hey thank you for the info we decided on Hyrum and it was a lot of fun. We trolled a 400 yard strip and I picked up 2 to 5 fish per pass. They were really small but fun to catch. My father in law got a nice 18 inch'er and we caught fish all day from 11:00 to 3:00 when the ski crew showed up. It was fun thanks for the info. Wish they would have been big enough to keep and smoke but maybe they will be by ice fish'en time. Later J

Thanks! It really salvaged a slow day. I'm not sure how big he was as he was difficult to handle in a float tube, and I didn't want to stress him out too much. He looked to be around 2'.

I think that the better panfish, and a lot of the bass are still holding deeper. I went back today and caught a couple of bass in 16-20' of water drop shotting, but I also had a lot of tap tap tapping and baits missing their tails, so I'm guessing there were some panfish down there as well. Unfortunately the storm was worse than expected and I got blown out of there by sideways sheets of rain after maybe 40 minutes of trying to fish. I'm just looking forward to when the water cools and they move shallow.
