Went to the east side of willard for a couple hours today. 2:00 to 4:00,I should have waited until later but I was bored. Water was rather silty, could only see 1 ft. deep. No strikes fishing for Wipers,no surface action at all. A couple questions: Has the water out there been clearer? But it is dirty because of the storms that hit this weekend. Has their been some boiling going on or is the hey days of Wiper fishing gone? I did see thousands of shad minnows in the rocks, they were smaller than I expected for this time of year. 1"-1-1/4".
P.S. don't judge Willard fishing off of this report...My dog was swimming in front of me and try to retrieve my lures most of the time.

the last time I was out there was about 2 weeks go and I landed 2 birds, [:p] YA the birds got my lure, the only good fishing that I have seen and done has been with top water, walking the dog pattern, and 1 landed 6 that night in about 2 hours. the water has been quit mucky this year. don't know why, the best place for boils have been on the north west area about 1 mile west of the north marina. how ever this is a weird year, I do not think any one has figured why this has been a weird year fishin willard, what has worked in the past years has not worked to good for me this year... good luck to ya,, any success let us know. me n' jiggyjus10 went up there last week and got into a boil. we totaled about 5. beautiful day. but you definatly want to be on the water around 4 till the sun has just set.
but hey last week were my first wipers so my advice may not be the most stable. But since they were the first I took pictures of them.

Will the boils return?? Who knows? That's really not up to the Wipers, it's up to the shad. If the shad chase the hatching bugs to the surface the "boils" will return. What I DO know is this: the feeding frenzy is alive and well. The Wipers are herding up the schooling shad and feasting like mad. The only difference is it is happening 5ft below the surface and they are a lot harder to locate. Find the shad schools and you'll find the hungry Wipers nearby. Tweak your fishing technique a little and you'll put more than a few in the boat.

Yes that may be true to some extent< How ever I do know after many-many years of fishing and mapping willard that the weather plays a HUGE part in boils and fishing, landing them in a boat is a talent of course, however watch the weather it does make a different twist on the outcome of your fishing.
