Do you think having a painted eye on a jig head really makes any difference in whether a fish will bite or not? I'm venturing by saying it doesn't make a difference, rather, it helps us people "bite" at the store and buy it because it's "life like".

More fishermen get caught on fishing lures then fish, no doubt. But yes I feel it can make a difference.

My personal opinion is that it helps a bit, not because of the position or shape of the eye, but rather because it introduces another color into the mix that the fish may see better or be targeting that day.

[cool][#0000ff]There are plenty of times when eyes...or no eyes...make no difference. But there are plenty of other times when a good contrasting and/or highly visible eye on the lure will increase strikes. Predators often key in on eyes and eyes can be one of the many "trigger" mechanisms that get a fish to respond.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Most "seasoned" anglers I know tend to believe that "THE EYES HAVE IT". I put them on virtually all of the jigs and hardbaits I make. And there are lots of times I am convinced that they can really make a difference.[/#0000ff]

I am no pro. However I have caught more fish on the same jig head after wear and tear.
Not sure if it is more of the reaction strike to the whole jig and plastic being there or not.
This seems to me to be one of those things that you will get more than just a yes or no.
