Bear Lake Today
#1
Hit Bear Lake for the first time in ten days or so. Finally they have finished with the Rainbow Cove ramp improvements. The Twins joined me today. Fished from about 6:45 until the wind blew us off around 2:00. I picked up three fish today, 25" cutt, 21" cutt, and about an 18" mack. The twins smelled of skunk[Sad]. I used a white-pink-green reef runner for all fish. There are still a lot of fish being marked in the 65' to 85' depth of Cisco Beach. They just don't seem to be as actively feeding like they were. I kept the biggest cutt for the smoker. Here is a pic.

Thanks for the report Tom, it makes me feel better, sounds like the same results we had on Sat. Lots of good marks on the finder but few hookups. I think the big fish catching is all but over this year on the East side. I think I'll try Gus Rich point on my next trip up there, do you know if that launch area is open right there by the hill, where they keep the Bear lake monster?

I dont know if that ramp is open to the public Curt. I would like to find out and give that area a try as well. I am not as familiar with that part of the lake and would love to hook up with someone that is sometime. I have really put in some time up there this year and would like to keep on learning.

Oh man I should have wiped off the camera 1st! That is one blurry pic. Oh well at least my twin got some pics on a separate camera. It wasn't as bloody as you promised but we got the gore shots for ya, ha, ha, ha![Wink]

Good luck with fishing out there and let us know the next time you feel there is worthy fishing up North and we will hit it up with ya again. It has been almost too much fun fishing with you this year. The pleasure has been all ours! You are one hell of a great guy!

So how did it feel to catch ALL the fish?

+1 one to that.....Thanks CvFisher for putting up with us and all. I bet catching all the fish felt WAY better than the bee sting I got at the marina. I wonder if that stranger who was taking pics of CvFisher had his pics come out blurry too?

However you have mastered the "great whites" of Bear Lake this year. It was a pleasure netting your macs and TyeDyeTwin's one mac. Maybe my braided line spooked them off. Wonder what was snagging us 50 feet down in 80 feet of water? If it was record mac I bet it has now 2+ spoons in it's mouth. Or maybe it was the bear lake monster! When the Walleyes turn on this fall at the bay we got to hook into some together. Sounds like this weeks weather is gonna shut off the Wipers[frown].

By the way that ramp is NOT open to the public. I stopped at Ideal Beach to ask about launching there when we left Saturday (10/1) from the lake. The gentleman in the office said that Ideal Beach owns that ramp and RV park but they lease it to a private vendor who has it closed for the season. He also said they are planning on stringing cable across the entrance due to vandalism. Looks like we get to suffer boat rides from the marina to the pile. That ramp would have been perfect for fishing that portion of the lake this fall and winter. Oh well so much for that!

Thanks for the info Tom, that is too bad they leased that launch to a private vendor the first year the water is high enough to launch from that location[:|]. By the way, how did you do last Sat? I thought that was your boat we kept trolling by.

Say it aint so Tom....that buddy we talked to you about sent us an invite to go with him today and we passed it up since we live in SLC...anyways we should have gone cause he caught 4 cutts and 7 macs, one of which was 15lbs! Then again I did not want to break yet another rod! I only have one left.
