Flaming Gorge 12-16 on ice

On the drive up to Flaming Gorge I noticed that at least 6 different groups were ice fishing Echo Reservoir. Looked like Echo still had a few open water areas so I'm not sure how safe it was.

We fished the Gorge at Lost Dog from sunset until 10:30pm. Ice was about 6". We only managed to catch 4 burbot and 6 pups. We fished from 10' to 30' deep. We were getting a ton of soft bites but we had trouble landing those slippery buggers.

Thanks for the update on Echo and the Gorge report. Any size to the bots and mac?

Most the mack's were all-around 20" felt like all under 2 pounds but I didn't measure or weigh them. One Mac was only about 12". Two of the burbot looked to be around 22" and the other was very small. I will see if my brother will send a pic of them.

That is a very cool sunset picture. Someday i will make a trip, to Fish the hard water, gotta luv the gorge.
