Kastmasters and single hooks
#1
After hooking too many fish on the outside with trebles, I decided to switch all my spoons, and Kastmasters to single hooks. My question is: does it matter which direction the hook is facing? So far, I've made the switch on some Swedish Pimples and my Kastmasters. I'm thinking the point of the hook should be on the front side of the lure. Does it make a difference whether I'm retrieving or jigging?

First of all welcome to the site.
I don't think it would matter which way the hook goes on, especially when jigging.

If the spinner rotates with the hook, it can't matter. It's pulling 360's all the way back to the boat.

If the spinner rotates independent of the lure, hook facing up.

I have done same with the Kastmasters we use at Willard.
The hookup ratio goes up due to the larger gap hook!
Before the trebles were so small a Wiper could pull it out or even straighten it.
