scofield so-so w/pics
#1
Took my 4 kids and some friends from work to scofield today. Arrived about 8 am and went out on state park ramp by the dam. Started in 23 feet of water. My daughter pulled up a 12 inch cutt in about 5 mins, then another came thru about 15 mins later. After about an hour of slowness we moved closer to the ramp in 16 feet of water. My duaghter actually drilled hole in the boat slips by the ramp and proceeded to out fish us all, kinda funny to see her hunch pay off. She pulled in 6 by herself. We managed about 12 for the day, in approx 4 hours. All bows and cutts and maybe some cuttbows about 13-17 inches. Got checked by officer friendly and I asked him if there are cuttbows in the lake. He told me is supposed to say no, but they are likely there. Lots of them had rainbow coloring and faint cuts under their throats. We put them all back so it didnt matter anyway. Started off trying worms, minnows, meal worms and power bait, turns out the minnows won the day. I cut some red shiners into 3 pieces so we were fishing with 1 inch segments and they seemed to like them the most. Bites were light, i got a new pole with a spring wire at the tip and it was a huge help to see the nibbles. Im going to order some for each of my poles now. My colleagues also got a kick out of watching the fish show up on the marcum and then seeing my pole bounce on the bite. That was pretty cool to be able to call the fish as they came along. My little ones got tired around noon so we bailed. Was glad to get them on some fish even though it wasnt exactly on fire. Headed to rockport on friday- hope everyone else had good luck today.

Gotta love that Marcum! I bought one this year and have loved it so far. Glad you got into the fish.
