The Southern Nevada Chapter of Trout Unlimited will meet on Thursday, October 2, at 7 pm in the State Parks Conference Room at NDOW on Vegas Drive (about a mile north of the Meadows Mall). This meeting will include a report on the fundraiser in Ely (I hope someone brings pictures), upcoming events, and our program, which will be a bit different this month. Our program this month is about one of the results of our fundraising efforts. Each year we auction off several guided fishing trips. Recent trips have been to nice places like Yellowstone National Park, the Kootenai River in Montana, Road Creek Ranch in Utah, Smith Creek Ranch in Nevada, the San Juan River in New Mexico, the Green River in Wyoming, and more. I had hoped to have a bunch of speakers tell us about their trips, show pictures, etc. I've only had time to line up two, but those two have some good stories to tell (50-plus fish days) and nice pictures of a wide variety of fish and some beautiful landscapes. But we'd all like to hear from more of our members, so if you get this e-mail and you've been high bidder on a fishing trip, come to the meeting prepared to describe your day. If not, I know the two speakers can talk for an hour about what they learned and how they did, including the big ones that got away, and a few that didn't. sm
