Welcome to the site Shawdawg, I see you have been a member for a while but didn't get a responce to your first post, so I though I could at least welcome you. Sorry, no recent post about Porcupine but the last time I was up there, several weeks ago, there was still open water out in the middle. Fishing was poor at the dam but we do ok at the back for trout, no kokes were caught. Although we did have one big school come through, my guess is that they were small kokes that dropped out of school early and never learned to bite[Wink]. Good luck if you make it up there and please let us know how you do.

Hey thanks for the response. I watch the forums on here all the time but dont do much posting. I probably should start. Thanks for the info on Pocupine. I was thinking about going up for the kokes. Wanted to see about night fishing for them. Does anybody do that around here?

I fished it tuesday, road was about 8 inches of pure ice from the cattle guard up. Luckily all the ice was melted off of the steep hill leading up to the dam. I was excited when I got to the dam, I had my wife and 2.5 year old boy with me. There were 2 groups on the ice, the ice is impossible to walk on without ice cleats. We had to fish right off the dam in some holes already drilled, no way to stabilize your feet to drill a hole, it was the slipperiest ice I have ever walked on. I was forced to fish in 40 feet of water and caught one koke, only one small group came in. Ice was 6 inches on tthe dam and appeared to be less out in the middle. Some snow would have to fall before I try it again, hope that helps.

It was a whopping 9 inches lol! I knew I wasn't gonna catch enough to make a meal so I just threw it back. If you go up good luck and don't forget ice skates or ice cleats.
