Off day at the Berry...
#1
We arrived at Strawberry bay marina at about 8:30, went straight out from the ramp and west about 200 yards. 27' depth, fish on the finder, set up and NADA! Left at 1:00 I had zero bites, my daughter thought she had one bite right off the bat, and so did her friend. 4 of us with 5 poles, no fish. I drilled about 6-7 more holes going deeper, shallower and east and west. Could not find any fish on the finder. Wierd!
On a different note, yes it is Super Bowl Sunday, but the Berry seemed deserted. 15-20 people in about 6 groups was all that was near the marina. When I left, I saw nobody on mud creek at all.
I drove home via deer creek, ice looked "spooky" to say the least. Some open water on the north with patches of ice. main body of lake near the state park was open as well. I saw nothing from the road that looked safe. However there was one guy, 100-150 yards NORTH of the island pulling a sled. Be careful on DC, ice looked uggggggly!

Sounds like every trip I've ever had at the Berry, except we usually manage one fish. Every time I go, I vow never again!

Sorry about the skunk. Better luck next time!

I keep telling myself to stop going then I come home and read posts of people catching them big cutts. So I get all hyped and try again.... I nearly given up on them.

Strawberry is one of the few lakes I can think of that owns me. That water beats me like I owe it money. I'm among the folks that have swore it off. I imagine I'll be enticed to try again on day. Keep after it though, the more you fish at the same lake the more fish you will catch. Patience is just not my thing, if you figure it out I'll definitely be up for some pointers though.
