Looked at the weather report Fri. & thought about staying home, but said, oh well, this is what they make rainsuits for, so left at 6:30 bound for the Big G. Got on the lake at 8:30 & poked around for an hr. or so looking for bait. Started finding it around flats out of the strong current that was running. 2nd flat we fished produced 2 small keepers & 2 dinks on jig & trap. Moved to a similar flat with a depression on it & it was on! I lost the 1st one that hit & then Brent sticks a nice 5#. We get a couple of good 3's & then get doubles on twice, I had a 4.8 & Brent a 3.5. These fish really turned on & we caught 12-14 footballs in 30-45 min.! Brent had one monster eat his trap & got it 20 ft. from the boat & her massive head came up & she blew the trap out emoBang. This fish dwarfed anything we caught today & we had some good 'uns! Left here looking or some similar areas downriver & found them at the mouths of a couple of creeks. Brent catches a small keeper & then, next cast he gets a 6+. a few min. later, he gets a 5+. Then around the next point, he sticks a 7.2! I ought to just sit down & watch! Starts raining about 4:30 EST & I get 2 more 3.5 - 4.5# fish & , for you slimers, a nice 6-7# channel cat on a trap?? . We ended an amazing day for us with 20-25 keepers, best 5 at 28.2#.
