#1
WarEagle and myself put in a Tyner Lane around 12:30 to do some scouting in the Harrison Bay area for the Winter Crappie TX out of HBSP this coming Saturday.
Nicest day of the year so far, scattered clouds and winds were calm to light, until late afternoon. Water temps were 50-52...water stained, current at 84-85 K.
Lots of good folks out, several on the banks...one boat was trolling in the slough...I knew it was going to be fantastic day when right off the bat we met Mad Dog and Marvin coming in, finished for the day. We visited for a few minutes...I've become a fan of his posts. Some have a gift as a word smith...he's one of em. Congrats on the Queen Crappie...sho nuff a big un!!!
As we proceeded out to the channel, here's this boat comin at us...really all you could see was a Smile on the guy's face ridin shot gun...it was Hippy (Dave Ohm) in the boat with Groomer...Dave had landed a 17+ inch crappie (see his post). They were pre fishin for the TX as well. We had a quick chat and were on way. Congrats to Dave for his catch of the day.
Switched on the electronics, we were off... scanned a community dock...looked fair...stopped...caught several shorts, couple of keepers...decided to move on to bigger and better opportunities.
I'm still on the steep side of the learning curve with my Lowrance HDS...gaining confidence on every trip. If the white dots ain't there then don't drop the hook...
One of goals...was to try a lil float n fly in points in shallow water...the effort was there, just not much production...will have to wait for another trip.
We did land additional bream, yellow bass and crappie...nuthin to write home about.
BG Outlaw Special-shad and scented wiggler were the choice for day. WarEagle did throw his T-Rig without success.
As usual, clock was running...boom it was 4 PM...time to head to the barn...
Fantastic day to be with WarEagle on the water...don't get no better...
