the finder has two beam settings 200 and 455 i use the 200 when i ice fish and have played aroung trying the 455, but when i switch to 455 it does not show much. What is the 455 intended for and in what situations should i use it.

I believe that the 455 khz is used for the Down Imaging screen on your sonar... On the units with quadrabeam the 455 Khz is the outer reaches of the cone angle for greater total bottom coverage. To my knowledge the 597 ci HD DI combo has 455 khz, and 800 khz frequencies for the Down imaging and 200 khz only for the sonar.
