What action and power do you prefer to use for a drop shot rig while small mouth fishing?

G Loomis drop shop rod. I use spin gear when i drop shot. My friend always uses bait casting stuff. the one i use is a DSR820SGLX. I use 6 lb seagar floro for line

Last year I picked up a DSR822C off of ebay and love it. It has a little more back bone the the DSR820C does. I use 10lb P-Line floro.

st croix med/light power with fast action tip changed my life when its come to fishing plastics. tripled my catch rate at powell. the rod is about 70 bucks money wellspent. spinning rod is what i use

I like to use lighter line when I drop shot, I feel like it gives the bait much better action. It's a little light, but I usually use a 7'6" light action Fenwick HMX with 10lb Power Pro and a leader of 6lb Yo Zuri Hybrid, or a 7' ML St Croix Premier with the same line as on the Fenwick, though sometimes I'll step up to an 8lb leader if there is more cover or larger fish around.

[fishin] i have a 6'10" st croix drop shot rod .I built it even so it was not cheap 6 or eight # test florocarbon. it has a very light tip and a lot of backbone. drop shoting is fun fishin
