I was out on the Chick chasing crappie today, when I get a call from Candi, her 2
neices were in town and wanted to fish. I will pick you guys up, come on. Candi and I
had to give a quick lesson in dockshooting. I wanted the girls to catch crappie, regardless
of size. They picked it up quickly, and they started catching crappie. I worked my butt off,
tying jigs, running the trolling motor, netting fish, taking fish of, taking pics, getting hollered
at by all. Charity and Lydia decided they wanted to catch a big crappie, I wanted to go deep,
but worried they would have harder time fishing a deep drop. 10 dropping into 25 fow. First cast,
Charity gets a big thump on a 10 count, a 14 incher. Her first tarp, on her first trip. She thinks this
is easy stuff. Lydia's second cast, she gets a 13 inch+ slab. I'm running like crazy, netting fish,
keeping the boat in position. Then Candi catches a big spot, her PB, we took pics and forgot to
weigh it. I think I got screamed at for that too. The girls are using all three of my fishing rods,
then I remember I have a 3 foot Spiderman, kids rod in the boat. I get it out and start using it.
As my jig is falling off the side of the river channel, one of the girls is hollering at me to do something,
as I turn to help the girls, the EVIL ONE, Candi, reaches over and gives my line a viscious whack.
I nearly dislocated my arm I set the hook so hard. Of course I get ridiculed and laughed at. So I
picked Candi up, walked over to the edge of the boat, dangled her over the water and explained
to her what is gonna happen when the water warms up, next time she does that. She will get wet
before I'm done. Then Candi catches a big drum. We had plenty of action in a few hours of fishing,
and the girls had fun. I, however, am exhausted. I didn't use the clicker, didn't have time.
