Crawdad's
#1
Howdy all, nice to see spring is in full swing, at least for a day or so.

Tomorrow I thought I would head out to capture me some crawdad's since my wife is out of town (otherwise I would be banned from prepping such fare at home).

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a good mess of these tasty little morsels (literally). I thought I would head to east canyon considering how close it is to the valley. Any better ideas?

Thanks a bunch.

I'm always surprised at how many 'dads are in Strawberry. With the ice off on the edges, that would be my pick. (of course, I'm an idiot, so...)

I wouldn't eat 'em out of Utah Lake, so that one is out.

Good to see you are still around Todd, I tried to reply to the message you sent a while back but it would not allow me to reply.
Last year a the DAV event at Strawberry one of the guys caught over 500 dads, just off the boat launch on the Soldier creek side.

Hi Kurt, ended up heading out Tooele way with my pots. Nothing at both the ponds out that way. Talked to a couple of locals that said its a little early. Certainly plenty there as I say plenty over turning rocks. Ended up eating at Bucket 'O Crawdad in West Valley. Good eats although the dad's they buy are small. Shrimp with Garlic butter was heavenly!

Ghetto Grocery in Rose Park sells them for about $4/lb. Less than the cost of bacon, no gas puts you ahead, and bonus is you don't have to boil them over frozen sage brush sprigs at the bank just to make the transport legal.
