Where to go tomorrow?
#1
I'm being very indecisive. I have tomorrow and Wednesday off and I'm taking the entire day tomorrow for fishing. I just can't make up my mind on where to go. There are a lot of spring-breakers all over the place, so that will have some bearing on where I'm going.

Here are my options:

1. Scofield for ice out trout.
2. Diamond fork and its various forks.
3. Lincoln beach w/ the new float tube.
4. DMAD/Gunnison Bend and the sevier in the area.

Lincoln beach is closer, but it's going to be very busy.

Some ice left on Scofield might be in the way of fishing.

Diamond fork is very close, but may be overrun.

DMAD and GB are questionable in terms of access, but there are at least a couple of places I can go and kick people off if I don't want them there. Smile The Walleye run might already be finished, but I'm not sure. That's kind of what I'm leaning toward right now, but it's the longest drive. (There are some nice shallow bays in DMAD that might hold nice cats and/or bass.)

I'd really like to hit LB, but I don't know if Utah lake is the best place to hit in a float tube. Smile Especially with some of the blood pressure meds I'm on. [crazy]

So I'm going to hit some of the shallow bays at DMAD and possibly the river below the dam. Hopin' for something tasty. And if that doesn't work, I'll have a couple of Mosin's with me to 'encourage' a few carp to cooperate. [shocked]

FYI ,
Diamond Fork and it's various tribs are off color ( visibility about 1 foot) unless you get upstream quite a bit as of yesterday. Might be best to skip it as planned for a few more days as planned.

So it was a very successful trip to the DMAD area. I caught 5 species. Including a bunch of very good size white bass. I kept 3, including a 2 lb-er that was 17" long. The other two were just over 1 lb each and about 13" long.

Here's 2 of them:

I caught a couple of LMB, both about 8" long. Not much. I also caught a couple of perch that were about 6" long. I'll post pictures of those as soon as they're emailed to me.

I also caught a walleye that was pushing 5"! It looked like it would have lost a fair fight to any of the nightcrawlers that I had. I also saw what looked like a very small 8"-ish northern pike. Could have been a walleye, but I don't think it was.

The carp were feeling rather frisky in the shallower areas of DMAD and the sevier.

I had a LMB on that would have probably gone 4 lbs, and I had what felt like a very large cat break the line on my ultralight rig I was using w/ a little tiny piece of carp meat under a bobber.

Tequila sunrise works on DMAD just as well as it does on UL. I also caught some on a shad and shad w/ orange belly sassy shad knock off. The big one came on a red and white mini spinnerbait. One of the perch and one of the LMB came on a chunk of carp meat. The carp meat came courtesy of a nightcrawler.

All in all, it was a good day.

And fillets are sitting in the fridge for tomorrow. I bought a better knife on the way home and it made a HUGE difference.
