Lake Lowell
#1
I fished the trees for about six hours yesterday and only caught five fish, the biggest being this 14 incher. The plastic swimming crawfish seemed to do best but, boy, was it slow. Anyone doing any better, if so, how? Thanks

Sorry, Dave, but I sure can't help you any. I didn't fish the lake yesterday. I fished the Snake. It was good. I caught 19 smallies, including an 18" dandy.

Friday I had a great big fish evening on the Lake, then Sunday evening I got skunked wading the same areas. That's typical Lake Lowell.

Today with 20 MPH winds I fished with my UL rig deep in the trees. It was pretty good and I got some very nice bluegill, but no perch. It was rather spooky in the trees with cottonwoods snapping and cracking all around.

Thanks, Matt and Smartweed. I forgot to mention I did catch two 10-11 inch perch on a 4" white swimmer. And those were just the ones I hooked. One could do well on perch in the trees if he tried. Incidentally, I put a reel on my old True Temper solid glass, 5-foot casting rod and got a lot more room to cast amongst the trees with the short rod. Fun.

Thanks Smartweed (and Matt). I forgot to mention I did take two 10-11 inch perch on a small, white swimmer, and those are the ones that stayed on. Lots of perch to be caught if one worked at it in the trees. Also, I put a reel on my old True Temper, solid glass, five-foot casting rod. It helped casting without hanging up in the brush overhead. Fun.

speaking of perch and bluegill, my daughter and I went out two sundays ago so, 10 days ago and caught 21 perch and about 6 bluegills that were decent, I got one huge bluegill and my daughter kicked my butt on the perch, she caught a couple of dandy 11"er's, they were taking cut bait, got the first one off a grub and jig while fishing for smallies and used the little perch for cut bait and killed them with little 1/8 oz. jigs,
