What kind of fish is this?

Sorry if it appears to be a dumb question but I am kind of new to fishing. I live in Iowa, could someone please tell me what kind of fish this is. The pictures are of the same species but 2 different fish. Thanks in advance.

I am no pro at this, but they look like very nice Large Mouth Bass.

Yep it's a lgmouth bass. Looks to go about 3 1/2lbs. Nice fish. What were you useing to get him to bite?

Very nice couple of bass you caught there! You didn't say what you were using to catch them, but I'd keep doing it!

Thanks guys. One of them was caught with a nightcrawler, and the other with a green sunfish.
