Sandbar safety, I thought this very good for beginners. Could not get the video imbed to work.
A friend of mine went under water for half a block when the edge of a sand bar unexpectedly broke off under his weight. It threw him into current and he was lucky to touch bottom so he knew which way was up. He thought he was done for.

I tried as well but could not get the embed feature to work either. Either way, it is some good info for anyone that fishes or is thinking about fishing on a sand bar. I had never heard of that happening until you posted it. Thanks

I had a fella tell me he and his wife were on a sandbar on the Mississippi River and went out toward the channel. When they turned around to go back a 20 foot strip of water opened between them and the the shore line. Then it closed back up like it wasn't ever there. They went around figuring it was flowing beneath and never went on another sand bar.
