Getting to this a couple days late.
Mirror Lake - I started at 10AM on Tuesday morning when I got there only one other car in the parking lot. Two little old ladies were coming back to leave when I showed up. They wre worried about fishing there because no one was at the lake fishing. I pulled out my stuff and that convinced them to give it a try. I started by the footbridge & boat ramp area throwing a Panter Martin tipped with a piece of worm. Three casts in and I had my first fish on, a really colorful Brookie (I'll post the pics tonight). Two more casts and the 2nd fish was on the line too. after throwing the same combo out a few times the bite slowed down and I changed areas. I moved around the lake a couple hundred yards and started chunking out the same combe and in a few minutes I had caught another couple of fish both rainbows in the 10" range when the wind picked up I started looking for a less exposed area and found a little cove I fished there for about an hour catching and releasing about 10 more fish Rainbows & Brookies all about 6-8". I continued to go around the lake until I reached a rock penninsula anf started throwing both sides of it had better luch casting with the wind but caught no fish on that side while throwing against the wind was harder I managed to pull up two Rainbows in the 12-14" range both were really skinny so back into the lake they went. I continued my walk around the lake until I came to a sharp drop off and started throwing a spoon (silver 2" long with dimples to catch the light) I caught a couple more bows both about 12" long then the bite quit. I changed to a heavier lure sorta spoon shaped but in multi-colors and caught big bambo and 19" 1.5lb Golden or Albino trout. THe picture really doesn't show off the color it just looks pale whitish pink on its sides but the top by the dorsel fin is a bright gold I think between the flash and the parking stripe it took all the color from the true color of the fish.
When the wind really picked up I just headed for the car. Drove to the Sulphur CG and the amber colored waters of the Hayden fork of the Bear River. I had my flyrod out and was heading for the beaver ponds. Throwing an olive-green wooley bugger and couldn't keep the Brookies off of it. Even when I was standing in the same little pond about 10ft away and just dropping it in a pulling it through the water what a hoot! After I lost this really nice wet-fly, some tree liked it much nore than I did I was tossing a black wooley bugger with a red tail both of these flies were tied by my daughter. I caught a couple more, but because the light was beginning to go I quit and headed home another successful Uintahs fishing trip in the bag.
During the day I took pics of a mink or something at Mirror and some beavers at the Sulphur CG. Then at the Bald Mt, turnout I popped some pics of the sunset.
Pics will be posted tonight!
