I've caught whites up to 4lbs but thats a really nice one. Most are 1 to 3 lbs. There's lakes with wiper's up to 20lbs around here, but the biggest i've caught was around 8lbs.

Wow, an 8 lb wiper, did it give you a good fight? When white bass get as big as three and four pounds do they fight as good as wipers do? WH2

The 8lb'er fought real good i caught him in fast running water. I use a light action rod and 4 or 6lb line when i fish for white bass so the fight is real intense and they fight just as good as a 3 or 4lb wiper. In the spring when they make there spawning run up the creeks and rivers we put our waders on and fish the riffles and catch white bass one after another.

Except for the broken lines, the whites and the wipers look the same and the ones that I have caught in Utah like fight like small wipers. When whites and wipers are in the same lake is there any other way of telling the difference other than wipers have broken lines and whites don't? WH2

Yes the best way to tell wipers and whites apart is the Tongue patches at the back of the Tongue. The whites have one patch and the wipers and stripers have two. The whites patch is centered and the wipers patches are side by side.
