My tool bars on my sled
#1
After getting the storage/tackle box/chair mostly figured out I read about how some guys were putting other kinds of rod carriers and tool bars on their sleds and I do love to tinker with PVC so off to the design sled I went. I used a male thread 1/2" piece on each corner which I kept in place in the hole I drilled in the corner by putting a screw on cap on the underside.

From there you can go where ever you want with many different kinds of attachments. I the next group of pictures I will so a few of the ideas I have had and talk about them.
I started out with just these simple ends and a support cross piece, when I was working on my windbreak

From there I advanced to some rod holders so that when I moved I din't need to put the rods back in the storage box.

Then as my sled grew I needed to make some mods to get my auger in and out easier so I angled one side out as seen here on the right.

Then I needed a tool bar.

and as you can see you can make it oto hold amny tools including you ice scoop.
From there I thought why not a holder for my fish finder that I was using.

One of the handiest designs has been my active rod holders as demonstrated here by my wife on the vary rare occasion, in fact only time she has come with me.

With these on each corner I can have 2 rods within easy reach for dead sticking or occasinal jigging and even a third right in the center where I drill another hole for jigging and also the transducer for the fish finder.

These actually slip over the upright tube.

You need to first remove some material on the inside of the T conection. Easily done with a rasp file. Then when you have it in place it can be moved from side to side so your outer hole can be well away from your center rod ( hopefully preventing line tangles when all 3 rods get a fish on them[laugh]) and then can also be turned up tight to the sled when loading it in your vehicle.

As I mention in a thread befor I also crafted a windbreak which just builds up from the corners to make the frame and with some bungies you attach your tarp. I have to admit it gets a little clumbersome and may not be worth the bother, especially if you like to move to other locations.

You might have noticed that I use screws, any self driller, but mostly sheemetal screws in assembling the PVC rather than glue. Makes it alot easier to modify when you want to make a change.

Come on ICE we are WAITING!![fishin]
