Candi talked me out of retirement as far as tournament fishing is concerned in order to fish the forgotten child tournament. We had a lot of fun, ran all over the lower end of the lake, caught a lot of fish, most in the 8 to 9 inch range, but did get 10 keepers, but only able to cull 2 10" crappie. All in all, about like nearly everyone else as it turned out.

We had to turn to plan B as 2 boats beat us to our number one spot. As it turned out, the guys who won the tournament were fishing this spot. That's life when you are fishing a tx with a 40 hp motor. emoBig But, we fished a dock nearby and had 5 keepers in the boat within 15 minutes and thought that we would be okay if we hit all the other spots. That turned out to not be a good decision. We had to struggle to catch 5 more keeper size crappie. Our biggest 3 fish were barely over 11" long. That isn't going to win any tournament.

The guys who actually caught the biggest crappie today did not enter the big fish pot, so the big fish pot went to WTK and his partner, the old silver haired pro, David East. Congratulations on not only winning that pot and finishing 2nd, but for burning the most gas among all the contestants. emoBig

We are going to have another crappie tournament for the forgotten children on November 10th, I think. It is a good cause and hopefully we will have another good turnout for that one. I'm sure that the kids will be happy. The fish have to be biting better than they did on this day. Oh, BTW, I did catch my pet drum today. We didn't weigh that skinny thing, but it sure was long and fought good. Candi has a pic and I'm sure that she will post it. It was the only pic that we took today. I had 3 fish to breakoff under one dock. Very unusual to get that many within 10 minutes of each other. I believe that 2 of them were catfish that wrapped around the wooden posts. Trashy slimers. I may just go catfishing and take some home just to get even with those slimy things. emoBig emoGeezer
