I have been trying to catch a mac on the fly rod over the past two fall seasons. Friday night, after three weekend trips, a half dozen failled hook ups, and one broken line i finally landed one. I didn't get a chance to measure it, but would guess it was about 25-28" and in the 6-8 pound range. It was lookin pretty skinny from the spawning fast, so i got it back in the water quickley and sent it on its way.

Wohoo! way to make it happen. Very nice. But not a good thing to hold it by the gill plate if you are releasing it. Sorry.
