Pup's First Time Jumping Ducks

I finally finished up with my finals so I took my pup out for his first round of jumping ducks. Man was I surprised to find that my normal honey hole for ducks was filled with something a little BIGGER![][][] Needless to say it was a good morning. Even better than the birds was watching the pup get excited and head out into the rive[shocked] to get after the birds! I get the feeling he is going to be one heck of a bird dog!

Also anyone know what the duck is in the picture?
Not one that I normally see around my stomping grounds

Right on! Looks kinda scaupish to me as well, but I'd need to see a better body/wing shot to be sure.

Thanks for the comments[cool]. Looking at the guidebook I was thinking a scaup as well I just have never shot one before so I was not sure.
