Got a late start and started bluegill fishing. Put several gills in the 9 inch class in the boat. Went downriver, and worked hard to net up 6 gizzard shad, with no smallmouth bites. The water was muddied up. I put a 22 lb blue in the boat in 50 ft of water on cut bluegill. I also had old skipjack with no takers. I scoured the river, and I'm going to check out the lake tomorrow for a big cat bite. I usually don't get many bites in the winter, but the true giants are a no show in spite of the rain we've had lately. I'm no expert, but I should have broken 50 lbs on the river sometime by now in the month of December. Last December on the river, I had around 6 fish from
50-85 lbs. Every year is different and I learn new things all the time.

My feet are finally thawed out, good grief it was cold. I hope for a giant slimer tomorrow that ruins my clothes!

Stay tuned for my big cat quest. I should be fishing 3-4 days this next week off from work.

Sam
