Does anyone know if the Wallsburg arm of Deer Creek has enough ice yet? Last week it still wasn't iced over, but it was really close.

Looks like the ice had completed its duties. On the live lake view there are people fishing where it was extremely dangerous on saturday.

Three of us hit DC today. We pulled into Charleston first thing in the morning, but was a little nervous about going out on the ice from Charleston due to the open water from the inlet. The ice is a ways out from the Charleston ramp, but appears doable once you get across the open water from the inlet. We ended up driving over to the island. We fished North of the island about 200 yds out, moved numerous times, near the shore and all over the little bay area there and ended up about 1/4 mile out towards Charleston. One small bite the entire time we were there from 7am to 11am and had tried everything in the T-Box. It was one of those bad days on the ice...........well as for the fishing anyways! The ice was at least 10" thick with just a small crust of snow perfect for walking. Will try it this next week from the Charleston area.

Last week when I went. I was the only one that had balls too go into that slushy heaven to hit the north island and walk 30 ft out till a few ft from me was just thin 1/2" ice but I drilled a few ft away from it and it was 5-9" and caught only 2 bows all day as well I moved in the morning around the lake while people gave me the crazy eyes because I've spend more time drilling then fishing that day. Hope we can find the magical 40+ feet next week because the perches are screaming in my ears out there.
Thanks for the note. Well good luck on the ice because I'm sticking with utah lake this week and maybe my cutty condo if its all iced up again. Sucks when your good spot opens up in the middle of the season. [signature]

Hit Charleston today found the fishing area a ways out from the ramp. Plenty of ice 11 inches +. Only fished for a few hours late in the afternoon and caught three. My son brought in a dandy 18" bow on a green paddle bug tipped with a wax. My biggest was a 14" bow on a green ratso with a wax. If you want to get out of the nasty air its not a bad place to relax and enjoy the clean air and sun. Hang on once the sun goes down...........all the brass monkeys headed in at that time!
Anyone else had any luck on DC? [signature] |
