Pineview and access through Ogden canyon
#1
Hit PV with a neighbor today. Didn't get outta town 'till 10:30 then when we got to the mouth of the canyon had to wait almost 45 min. at the construction. Ain't goin' that way again. We all caught perch off the south side of Cemetery Pt. Walked out about 250 yd.& poked some holes. Game on. Neighbor & his son caught 30 or more and I think I caught at least that many. Haven't cleaned them yet so don't have an accurate count. Nothing of any size, smallest about 6" and biggest maybe 9". For a while, the only way I could get them was to watch them take the bait into their mouth on the fish cam and strike quickly 'cause they'd take it in their mouth & immediately spit it out. From about 2 to 3 PM they put the feedbag on and I had to give up on 2 poles 'cause as soon as i'd get down to the bottom & pick it up it was fish on. There was a little water around the edge (maybe 2") out a few feet when we got there but when we left around 4 there had to be 6" out to around 10' from the edge and the snow all over the lake had turned to about 3" of slush. Not bad walking but it made dragging the sled a pain in the butt.

I know how you feel man. After last week utah lake perch and bluegill party I had too fillet all of those small 5-6" and a few 7-8" were a pain in the butt but it was worth every scrap of meat for some amazing fish taco that I haven't had in a while especially for perch tacos. [angelic]

Thanks for the heads up on Ogden canyon!
Amazing to me that it is warm enough, or enough sun to melt some ice up there, with it being so cold where I live.

Sounds like good catching and a lot of fun. Thanks for the report.

Oh yea, they are a pain in the butt, 8 to 9 inchers are much easier, 10 or bigger are sweet.[Wink]
