Cabelas® and NPAA Partner to "Unplug" Youth and Teach Fishing Skills
#1
Owatonna, MN.-Children spend 10 times as long watching TV and playing video games as they do playing outside (The Telegraph). In an effort to spark youth interest in fishing Cabela's has partnered with the National Professional Angeles Association (NPAA) to "unplug" local youth and teach them about fishing. "The key to kids being a lifelong angler is getting youth excited early in life, to provide the right equipment sized for them, making it a fun experience and delivering multiple short bursts of fishing frenzies. Thanks for hooking kids where it counts, on the great outdoors" says Mike "Cold Front" Kurre Mentoring Program Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources

The NPAA which is made up by many of today's greatest walleye fishing professionals will host a Kids Fishing Clinic at the Owatonna, MN Cabela's during the Cabela's Walleye Classic Celebration April 13th. The kids fishing clinic is open to youth of all ages and skill levels, prizes will be awarded to participants and all will be sure to have a great time. In addition fishing heroes such as Babe, Kris, and Karlee Winkelman, Mark Fisher, Jason Mitchell, Chip Leer, Brian "Bro" Brosdahl, Bill Shimota, Eric Olson, Paul Meleen, Bob Jensen and many more will be on-site to meet and sign autographs for the kids.

In the land of 10,000 lakes there is endless opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors right in your back yard; Walleye Fishing Pro and NPAA Member Kirt Hedquist said "We take great pride in teaching kids about fishing and we are excited to partner with Cabela's to provide this unique opportunity to put fishing rods in the hands of kids in the community." Children who attend the Kids Fishing Clinic will be sure to learn all the basic skills needed to head out to their local fishing spot and reel in great memories in the outdoors.
