Need Catfish Help
#1
My wife and I generally target bass, but recently have begun chasing Kokane, and now would like to add some Snake River Catfish to the mix. We've seen a couple of HUGE ones cruising in the shallows above Swan Falls dam but have no real idea about how to go about catching one. We have a boat so would most likely like to fish above the dam at Swan Falls.

Where do we start as to rigging our lines, fishing conditions like morning, afternoon, evening, and of course good baits to use.

Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Three way swivel with sinker and hook or I like a sliding sinker, swivel and I use 20 lb braided line with circle hooks only! I never thought circle hooks would work until I tried them! The fish will hook themselves so you can't set the hook or you miss them every time! So if you want to set the hook, use octopus style. Fresh fish works the best! Perch, bluegill, suckers and shiners! I don't think I have ever had a cat swallow a circle hook, which is why I like them! I'm headed down below Weiser Thursday and Friday!

Thanks MrJig .... Weiser's a bit far for me to go right now. Used to live there and did fairly will in mid-summer floating the Snake in a canoe. Caught cats, but almost always while trying to catch a bass. I'm taking it that the "fresh fish" is baited as cut bait.

i did well in marsing last weekend for cats i like to use chicken liver or the head of a bass rigged on a size 0/8 circle hook with enough weight to keep it down i would use the same set up at swan seems fresh chicken liver works best for me as far as bait goes find and outside corner on the river to set up on and fish the down stream side of it there are some good spots up there i would be up their but my leg is still in a cast form my crash ice fishing so i have to fish easy areas for me to get to and form the bank right now man i wish i could take my boat up there
