What a nice day. A pinch of a breeze here and there (1-2mph) making sight fishing a bear but overall a great day on the water.
Decided to hit some new water. Fished till about 9 in a known spot, hit another for a while then eventually the east side of Bonell Bay from lunch time till we left. Not a bad area but not a ton of fishing per se. Lots of really deep water with only the very back of coves getting shallow so lots of driving to get to a small spot to fish then on the move again. Pretty standard area. Way back in Bonell lots of Large Mouths and as we worked from the end of Bonell towards the main lake we started finding Smallies.
One note... I have no idea how he did it but there was a 5th wheel way back there on the southwest side/corner of Bonell Bay. Lots of interesting driving I bet.
Anyways in the end caught 32 fish. 2 Stipers and the rest a fairly even mix of SMB and LMB. 28 of them were caught site fishing, if I remember correctly. 2 Stripers/1 Smallie on a Jerkbait (only crank fish caught all day) and one LMB I caught making a long cast back in a cove with a Texas Rig that I couldn't get any further in. No wind makes a big difference for me...
All of Madi's were on a Texas Rigged worm. She is getting better and better at using a Baitcaster! I caught a lot on a Drop Shot. My #1 finesse/site fishing tool. Also, just to change it up some, I caught quite a few on a wacky rigged Senko using a Spinning Rod. Something I have never messed with much before and never caught a fish on before. Works...
I shot a couple videos of Madi Smallie bed fishing. I tried shooting through my polarized sunglasses... Won't do that again. My phone shoots pretty nice videos and sees really well. Shooting through the glasses isn't nearly as good. Bummed the videos are not as good as they should of been.
