New to fishing!!
#1
Hey guys. My name is Josh. I have been fishing before. Caught a few fish. Nothing to write home about or anything. But without having a bunch of hard ass fisherman snobs givning me all kinds of trouble and holy hell, I truley would like to learn a bit more about it. I live near a lake in St.Peters Missouri. I hear theres Bass in there. Im taking my wife there tommorow to drink some beers, eat a packed lunch and show her that I know a thing or two. HA! I know enough to possibly catch a fish. But man. I have a "Shakespear" spinning reel. I have the hook tied in properly. 8 inches above my hook and lure is my Split shot. and 3 ft from the lure I have my 1-1/2 round snap on float bobber. Im fully loaded with plenty of Jigs and Plugs. But do you have any suggestions? Color? Size? Is my line set up properly. Im past the point of caring if you guys give me trouble or not . haha I have thick skin. I am a recovering alcoholic and I am trying to do some good ol fashioned healthy activities to get my mind of my troubles. Thanks fellas and or ladies!

Welcome to the site Mr. Watson. I can't really give you any advise on you local lake but I can give you a link to our Freshwater fishing boards, where you can ask questions about any fish you might be interested in catching. By the way, will you be shore fishing or fishing from a boat? What kind of bait are you using? I know some folks use a live minnow below a bobber if that is legal your state. Around here, live minnows are not legal and I think most bass fishermen use plastics. Check out that link, then go to the bass board for more on bass fisning methods. Good luck.
