So I have a problem I have a older 9.8 mercry bout moter that needs the water pump put back together and for some one to try and fix my fuel pump. I took it to DON'S auto and Marines and he told me that it would be 250$ plus for mabey 45 mins worth of work and told me it wasn't worth fixing but its great for the bout that I have and I travel and come back every other weekend and do not have time to fix it but I was woundering if any one know any one that fixs boat moter and won't try and rape me while doing it

I think if you look on youtube you can find simple directions to do it yourself. Its pretty easy. Also try tinboats they have a motor repair forum that you can ask questions on and get alot of feed back. That's where I go for advice on my 78 merc 7.5. Hope that help's. [fishin]

Dons a good guy, if he says it isn't worth it, it probably isn't.

Your paying for the guys experience, however if he has some young fella doing the repair, your paying all the overhead for an employee. You can by cheap parts and pay the fella across the alley a 20 pack. I'd rather pay someone a good price who has done the job alot, they may see another potential problem and save you money in the long run. You get what you pay for. BOAT=break out another thousand.
I am in the repair business and I always laugh when someone says"It was working Ok until my buddy fixed it for me"

I have heard a lot of people recommend Lee's Marine in Hyrum.

Might be worth a second opinion, try Lee in Hyrum. He will probably seem high to you as well, but if you don't have time or ability to do it yourself then ask yourself what it's worth to you, and how much do you want it. You may also want to check out KSL and see what an upgrade would cost. You might be able to get a better motor for not much more investment. Good luck. J
