Water Levels at Willard
#1

Went to Willard Bay on Saturday and couldnt have asked for a better day. In the morning the lake was like glass and we did catch some fish. What i did notice was that in Freeway Bay the tires that were put in there for structure along the shoreline are exposed now. The lake has dropped considerably since i was there two weeks ago.
The pipeline may be fixed but they now are in the process of the cleanup stage and in order to remove all the contaminated soils they need to drop the lake level to lower the water table. They are bypassing all the runoff from going into the south inlet. The South Marina water levels are getting pretty shallow and the lake itself is only around six feet deep in alot of places for along ways off shore. Out at the island we did find a spot that was close to 4 feet is all. People are going to tear up their boats soon.
They are releasing water to the Farmers as well so it wont be long until it is dangerous or impossible to launch a boat at the Marina. Even if they spend the rest of May and maybe som\e time into June there will be no runoff left to fill the lake to good levels so it may be tough on boaters to actually launch.
Information passed along from one of the Park Rangers.
Walleye and Wipers wont be hurt none.
