I'm an old dad with a couple of young kids. As my dad did with I, I've been introducing them to fishing in the DC area, mainly in tributaries to the Chesapeake Bay (Potomac, Patuxent rivers, etc.). Panfish mostly -- perch, bluegill. We don't fish regularly, but think we'll do more so this year, and am looking to learn more about techniques, what fish we should be going after, locations. Also, our "beginner" fishing gear bought at the sporting goods store has served us well for a few years but is wearing out or malfunctioning -- I'll be seeking advice on what would make sense as a step up in reels and rods for the occasional fisherman.
