This is my first time to post. I've watched the forum for some time but really didn't have much to say. Just soaking all the good info. Anyway thought I would say hello. I am going to Mojave this weekend for a couple days, chase some smallies maybe during the day. Probably gonna go after Big cats at night. Saw the other post and sounds like fun. I have had some milo set out in the sun for about 3 weeks for chum its pretty stinky. Me and the wife and a couple buddies either fish boulder beach or in the wash at night mainly. If you see a green light glowing off a big pontoon say hi that will be us.

Good luck I hope the stripers start soon. We caught our first boils last fall and was hooked.

Milo is a grain you buy in a 50lb bag at the feed store. You fill a 5 gallon bucket about 3/4 full then add a cup of sugar and a beer to jump start the fermenting process. Cover the milo with water put the lid on loosely so it doesn't explode and set it out in the hot sun for about two weeks. Add water as needed without making it soupy. after it quits bubbling you can put the lid on tight. Man is it stinky. Spread it around you boat liberally. Its supposed to bring in the cats really well. Just chum like corn.

I have read a lot in my catfishing books about using milo as chum. It is very popular in the Deep South.

I have never heard of anyone doing it out here - I bet it works great here.

According to one of my books, it says to pour at least a gallon of fermented milo on your fishing spot and wait an hour or two before anchoring up and fishing your area. Milo is considered a slow-release chum, so be patient. It will bring in the fish.

Well catfish hunter posted the pics for Mohave in the thread fun at Mohave. The milo chum didn't seem to matter but I guess you gotta find the cats first and use the chum to keep them in the area. We didn't find them. It was a good time but man the wind was murder on my floating trailer house.
