IRVINE, Calif.- Keep a look-out on the highways and byways - and on the way to your nearest boat ramp - for Shimano's 'Dockside Demo Crew' traveling the country in their new wrapped truck and boat. The crew and its new rig started its inaugural trip on Monday, June 3 when it left Shimano's headquarters in Irvine, Calif. and set the GPS for Lake Fork in Texas.
"It's all part of efforts to interact directly with the anglers who use our rods and reels," said Bob Mahoney, marketing manager for Shimano. "Our Dockside Demo Crew has been showcasing Shimano tackle at B.A.S.S. Elite tournaments, and they'll now be even more visible in their Shimano-wrapped Toyota truck pulling a Yamaha-powered Skeeter bass boat. And if you do happen to see them on I-20 in Texas, or on I-35 on their way points north, be sure to honk and say hello."
Long-time Shimano staffers Marc Mills and Dan Thorburn head up the 'Dockside Demo Crew.' At the B.A.S.S. Elite tournaments and events like the Skeeter Boats Owner's Tournament, anglers visiting the Shimano display can participate in the 'Cast-Flip-Pitch Challenge' and check out all the latest Shimano bass tackle. "We'll give folks the opportunity to cast a Shimano set-up they may be interested in buying, letting them see and feel how it performance with different lures," said Mills. "Plus at some of the events, we'll have an area tackle shop and pro staff on site to be of assistance."
Following the Skeeter Boats event at Lake Fork in Texas starting on June 6, the Dockside Demo Crew and rig heads north to the B.A.S.S. Elite Mississippi River Rumble on June 20-23 in Lacrosse, Wisc. It's then on to I-94, I-90 and I-81 as the crew heads to the B.A.S.S. Elite St. Lawrence River Showdown in Waddington, N.Y.
